Crimson Star beauty
My Crimson Star Columbines are blooming. The flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds and I read that they are great cut flowers too. So I gathered a few and placed them in water. We shall see how long the blooms will last.

What a desolate place
would be a world without a flower!
It would be a face without a smile,
a feast without a welcome.
Are not flowers the stars of the earth,
and are not our stars the flowers of the heaven?

The seed heads are also pretty even after the petals fall off. I love Columbines. I have the hybrid Pink and white. My hybrid Yellow and Red did not bloom this year although the plant is still there. I also have the hybrid Purple and white plus the "wild" Columbines. Oh, I also have the "black" Bonnet Columbines.
ReplyDeleteI have fallen in love with them too. The cut flowers lasted three days which is just fine.
